UW-CPTC 06-3 Key hypothesis of paleoclassical model
نویسنده
چکیده
The paleoclassical model of radial electron heat transport in resistive, current-carrying toroidal plasmas is based on a key hypothesis — that electron guiding centers move and diffuse with radially localized annuli of poloidal magnetic flux. This hypothesis is shown to result from the temporal evolution of the guiding center version of the canonical toroidal angular momentum on the magnetic field diffusion time scale τη ≡ a/6Dη. These guiding center motion and diffusion effects modify the usual drift-kinetic equation by adding a τη time-scale Fokker-Planck spatial diffusion operator.

UW-CPTC 06-8R Derivation of paleoclassical key hypothesis
The paleoclassical model of radial electron heat transport in resistive, current-carrying toroidal plasmas is based on a key hypothesis — that electron guiding centers move and diffuse with radially localized annuli of poloidal magnetic flux. This hypothesis is shown to result from transforming the drift-kinetic-equation to poloidal flux coordinates in situations where this flux is governed by ...
متن کاملUW-CPTC 07-5 Paleoclassical Electron Heat Transport Model
The paleoclassical model for radial electron heat transport in tokamak plasmas has been developed in a number of papers over the past few years. In order to facilitate numerical evaluation of it in plasma transport codes, this report summarizes its parameters, formulas and limits in particular regimes. A hierarchy of levels of the paleoclassical model are specified for interpretive (1) and pred...
متن کاملUW-CPTC 11-3R Pedestal Structure Model
Predictions are developed for gradients and profiles of the electron density and temperature in tokamak H-mode pedestals that are in transport quasi-equilibrium. They are based on assuming paleoclassical processes provide the irreducible minimum radial plasma transport and dominate in the steep gradient regions of pedestals. The predictions agree (within a factor of about two) with properties o...
متن کاملUW-CPTC 04-3 (Revised3) Paleoclassical transport in low collisionality toroidal plasmas
Radial electron heat transport in a low collisionality, current-carrying resistive plasma confined in an axisymmetric toroidal magnetic field is hypothesized to be caused by the paleoclassical collisional processes of parallel electron heat conduction and radial magnetic field diffusion. The electron distribution is Maxwellianized and the electron temperature equilibrated over a long length L (...
متن کاملUW-CPTC 11-4R Model for pedestal structure
Predictions are developed for the structure of plasma parameter profiles of high-confinement (H)-mode pedestals in transport quasi-equilibrium in tokamaks. They are based on assuming paleoclassical radial plasma transport processes dominate throughout the pedestal. The key physical process in this model is that the electron temperature gradient increases to the magnitude required for paleoclass...
